Recently a former colleague asked this question.
“Why did you start consulting”?
For context, early in our careers, we both worked as Sales Associates at the iconic Johnson Publishing Company (JPC) before moving on to thrive in our individual careers.
But my pivot to consulting started with an unexpected invitation. A friend invited me to attend a Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) performance. I had no idea it would spark a turning point in my career.
Watching the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) students bring classic tragedies and Shakespearean works to life in a local courtyard, I saw far more than a brilliant performance by a 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company in residence.
“I saw expansion, growth, and untapped opportunity.”
I realized there was a powerful opening for sponsors and advertisers to engage with a rapidly growing Harlem community. Over the years, CTH proved that theory is correct- successfully scaling from an intimate courtyard, community Theatre stages, and eventually to The Richard Rodgers Amphitheater for Uptown Shakespeare in the Park.
While the venues and players changed, one thing never wavered: the community’s deep desire for high-quality artistic storytelling.
By collaborating with CTH’s executive team, directors, and producers to drive community awareness, what started as a temporary project blossomed into a deeper passion. I looked around and realized that small business’ needed the exact same strategic guidance.
That passion became the foundation for Canadirectdm, LLC (CDDM).
Today, countless small business’ are struggling to cut through the noise of a crowded digital landscape. They need a clear roadmap, a solution for staying connected to their community while managing day-to-day operations.
At CDDM, solving this problem is our goal. Helping small business’ redefine and deepen their relationships with their “Community” (their clients, customers, associates, and associations).
Developing these growth strategies together is exactly why Canadirectdm LLC Digital Media & Marketing exists.
Looking forward to hearing your “Origin Story”
All The Best,
Joyce A.
